Celebrating Our Birthday in the City of Lights

Our journey began with a smooth and scenic train ride from Bern to Paris. Watching the Swiss countryside give way to the rolling hills of the French countryside was the perfect way to get us in the Parisian mood. Before we knew it, we had arrived at the iconic Gare de l’Est train station right in the center of the city.

One of the best parts of our trip was the apartment we stayed in, courtesy of some generous friends. Located just a short walk from the Louvre, we had the perfect home base to explore the city. The apartment was bright, airy, and had all the modern amenities we needed, plus a balcony that offered stunning views of the Parisian rooftops. Waking up each morning and sipping our coffee while taking in the sights and sounds of the city was absolute bliss.

Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without a visit to the Louvre. As one of the world’s largest and most famous art museums, we knew we had to carve out a significant amount of time to wander its hallowed halls. From the iconic Mona Lisa to lesser-known masterpieces, we were in awe of the sheer scale and breadth of the Louvre’s collection. We could have spent days exploring, but we made sure to hit all the highlights and took our time soaking in the history and artistry around every corner.
